Consistency and impact are everything in the world of branding. But for a lot of corporate leaders, managing merchandise, uniforms, and recognition programs can feel overwhelming. With too many vendors and disconnected strategies, it turns into a game of whack-a-mole instead of a clear, effective plan.
At BAMKO, we take a unique, more connected approach to branded merchandise, awards & recognition, print & displays, and uniforms. Instead of juggling multiple vendors, our clients work with one trusted partner who brings everything together.
That approach comes to life through people like Katie Barber, our Director of Corporate Partnerships. Katie is the go-to expert for companies looking to make a lasting impact with their branding. She collaborates across all teams, champions her clients internally, and brings together all the moving parts to create branding strategies that actually make an impact.
We sat down with Katie to get her insights on what it really means to be a strategic corporate partner in the branded solutions space, how BAMKO cuts through the noise, and why focusing on “solutions, not stuff” is the key to unlocking a brand’s full potential.
Q&A with Katie
Q: You’re often at the forefront of strategizing how companies leverage branded solutions. Can you describe the core mission of your role and how it aligns with BAMKO’s overarching philosophy of “selling solutions, not stuff”?
A: My role goes far beyond connecting great brands to tangible items. That might be part of it, but the real focus is helping our team act as a true strategic partner. We don’t just ask, “What do you need?”, we ask, “What are you trying to accomplish?” Then we build branded solutions that support that goal, whether it’s improving retention, driving engagement, or elevating the customer experience.
When a client asks for branded gear, we always dig deeper. Is it to help new hires feel welcomed? Support a key event? Strengthen team culture? Once we understand the goal, we bring together everything BAMKO offers: sourcing, design, e-commerce, logistics, etc. to build a program that makes a real impact.
Every item should have a clear purpose and create a real connection with the person receiving it. That’s how we move from selling products to building programs that drive results and actually matter to the end user.
Q: From your perspective, what are the biggest challenges companies face when managing their branding efforts, and how does your team help address these complexities?
A: One of the biggest challenges I see is fragmentation. Big companies often manage branded merchandise in silos. Uniforms with one vendor, event kits with another, recognition gifts through someone else entirely. That leads to brand inconsistency, a lack of control, and a lot of unnecessary internal friction.
At BAMKO, we take that off their plate. Our team works closely with key stakeholders to understand exactly what they need, then centralizes all aspects (design, sourcing, logistics, reporting, etc.) so the brand remains consistent and everything runs through a single strategic partner. It’s cleaner, faster, and more effective. And most importantly, the brand always shows up the way it’s supposed to.
Q: Can you give us an example of a corporate partnership where your team successfully integrated multiple BAMKO offerings to achieve a significant outcome for a client, demonstrating the “More Than Merch” philosophy?
A: We have so many examples. I’ve found that it is rare for a customer not to partner with us on multiple programs. We are launching new uniforms alongside employee appreciation efforts, as well as building e-commerce stores that support internal teams and events simultaneously.
One that really stands out is our partnership with CVS. With thousands of locations and multiple business units, they need more than a vendor. They need an extension of their brand. We support them with branded merchandise, recognition programs, uniforms, print, marketing materials, events, and more. You name it, and our account management team leads it as they are part of the CVS team.
It’s never just about picking products or putting a logo on something. It’s about creating a system that protects the brand, supports their people, and keeps everything running smoothly. That’s what “More Than Merch” really means.
Q: In today’s dynamic economic landscape, supply chain resilience and strategic sourcing are more critical than ever. How does BAMKO’s approach to direct factory relationships and its robust domestic sourcing network provide a competitive advantage for your clients?
A: BAMKO isn’t built like a typical promo supplier. Many companies in this space rely on layers of middlemen, which slows things down and adds cost. We’ve taken a different approach. We’ve built direct relationships with factories worldwide and invested heavily in a robust domestic sourcing network.
That gives us flexibility. If something gets disrupted (tariffs, port delays, natural disasters), we can pivot quickly without missing a beat. It also means more control over pricing, better quality, and faster turnaround times. Our clients aren’t stuck waiting on international shipments or dealing with unexpected markups.
At the end of the day, it’s about being reliable. While others are scrambling to react, we’ve already built the infrastructure to keep things moving. That’s a huge advantage for our clients, and it’s a big reason they value our partnership.
Q: For a corporate leader considering a partnership with BAMKO, what is the single most important message you would want them to take away about working with your team and the overall BAMKO advantage?
A: If there’s one thing I’d want a corporate leader to take away, it’s that we’re a true partner and extension of their team, not just another vendor. We don’t just drop ship boxes or add your logo to branded merchandise. We’re involved from start to finish and are the experts in this space, consistently bringing new ideas for merchandise while also providing solutions to the challenges they face.
Managing branded merchandise, uniforms, print, and recognition programs across different suppliers can be stressful. We take that off your plate and bring it all under one roof. The end result isn’t just product, it’s a program that supports real business goals, whether that’s improving employee engagement, building brand consistency, or strengthening customer loyalty.
Q: What’s the best piece of merch you’ve ever received, and why did you love it?
A: That is easy- a S’well tumbler with my initials on it. I got it at a leadership offsite where everyone received one, and it’s something I still use every day. The quality was great, and the personalization made it feel really thoughtful. It was a small detail, but it made a big impression. It felt personal and also created a sense of connection with the group. That’s the kind of merch that really sticks, it’s useful, meaningful, and memorable.
