How They Saved 17 Million Plastic Bottles from Landfills
Walmart is one of the world’s largest retailers, with 1.5 million team members across 4,759 U.S. stores. In 2018, Walmart changed their policies to allow employees to wear jeans and sneakers to work.
The company wanted to update the design of its uniform to match the relaxed dress code. This came with a sustainable twist: their signature vest but made from 100% recycled polyester from plastic bottles. They ended up saving 17 million plastic bottles from landfills.
